A Brisbane childcare centre
that feels like home
For more than 18 years, SunRise Kids has been part of the daily lives of Brisbane families. What began in 2008 with a single centre in Mt Gravatt, started by a local family, has grown into five early learning centres across Greater Brisbane and Ipswich.
Even as we’ve grown, the day-to-day experience hasn’t changed. Each centre still feels welcoming, familiar, and closely connected to the families who walk through the door.
Across all locations, children are treated as individuals, families are supported in a way that feels considered and consistent, and educators bring real experience and care to their role in supporting each child’s development in those early years.
Our centres are open Monday to Friday, welcoming children from 6 weeks to 5 years of age.

Our philosophy
Children learn best through play, discovery, and real connections. Our play-based approach helps them grow in confidence while developing social skills, fine motor skills, and the broader foundations that support each child’s development.
Our vision
Since 2008, our vision has been to create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating space where children feel valued, supported, and excited to learn.
Our values
Community
Childcare, to us, goes beyond learning. It’s about creating a space where children and families feel at ease, where you’re recognised, supported, and part of a community from the very beginning.
Safety
Every decision we make, how we staff our rooms, how we train our team, how we design our spaces, comes back to one thing. Making sure your child is safe, supervised, and cared for. Safety isn’t just a policy for us, it’s part of how we operate every day.
Continuous growth
Just like the children we care for, we’re always learning. We invest in ongoing training and regularly update our approach so we can keep supporting children in the best way we can.
Inclusivity
Our centres are inclusive spaces where every child and family feels recognised and supported. Our educators continue to build cultural awareness through ongoing training, including incorporating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into daily learning.
The educators behind the smiles at pick-up time
Many of our Educators have been with SunRise Kids for five years or more, across all five centres. There are educators who have watched children grow from babies to kindergarten graduates, who remember first words and first friendships, and whose families come back to visit long after their children have moved on to school.
This kind of longevity is something we pride ourselves on. We invest in our team, in their qualifications, and in building strong relationships with the children and families they work with each day.
Qualifications across our team include:
- Bachelor-qualified Early Childhood Teachers (ECTs) leading programs
- Diploma-qualified educators
- Certificate III qualified educators
- Trainees completing their Certificate III
Ongoing professional development covers a wide range of areas:
The way our educators continue to learn reflects how we see early childhood education as something that grows with experience, not something defined by a certificate alone.
Ongoing professional development covers a wide range of areas:
- Behaviour guidance and positive guidance frameworks
- Trauma-informed care practices
- Autism Queensland training
- Inclusion practices and ATSI cultural awareness
- Environmental planning and intentional teaching
- First Aid and CPR
- Child protection training (face-to-face, every year)
- Child Safety Training (required for all educators and students)
- Fire safety training
Environments that invite curiosity and play
Children learn differently when they have space to move, explore, and just be themselves. That’s why our outdoor environments are designed with intention, giving children new things to discover, test, and engage with in their own way.
Our large outdoor areas are set up to support gross motor development, creative play, and the kind of exploration that helps children build capability and confidence at their own pace. You’ll find climbing structures and play forts, mud kitchens stocked with real-life cooking utensils, garden beds where children get their hands in the soil, shaded areas for quieter moments, and open spaces for running, jumping, and everything in between.
Inside, we take a considered approach to the environment itself. children are offered real, everyday objects and open-ended materials that invite them to explore, imagine, and create in their own way. The aim is to create spaces that feel calm, considered, and engaging, places that gently slow the pace and give children the freedom to follow their curiosity.
Award-winning early learning centre
In 2025, our Ipswich centre was recognised with a Local Childcare Business Award, an acknowledgement of the standard of care our team has built over many years. We’re proud of that recognition, and even prouder of the team that earned it.
Supporting your child’s transition to school
Starting Prep is a big step, and it’s something we approach with care. For children in our kindergarten program, we take the time to understand how they’re learning, how they relate to others, and what helps them feel settled.
Our Early Childhood Teachers prepare individual Transition Statements for each child and share these with local schools, so teachers already have a clear picture of who your child is before day one.
We also check in with families along the way, talking through what’s been shared, how your child is feeling about the change, and what might help them feel more comfortable as it approaches.
When the time comes, we want every child to walk through those school gates feeling ready and sure of themselves.
