Sessions & Fees
SunRise Kids has five centres across Brisbane, offering long-daycare for children from six weeks to school age. Sessions are available across the day to accommodate a range of work and family schedules. Fees are set at a centre level and reviewed periodically. Your Centre Director can provide current pricing and help you identify the session that works best for your situation.
All centres are approved for the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) and Queensland’s Free Kindy program, which can significantly reduce your out-of-pocket childcare costs.

Understanding childcare fees
Most families are eligible for government support that significantly reduces the out-of-pocket cost of early childhood education and care. All SunRise Kids centres are approved for the Child Care Subsidy (CCS), and our Kindy programs are eligible for Queensland’s Free Kindy funding.
Child Care Subsidy (CCS)
The Child Care Subsidy is an Australian Government payment that is paid directly to your childcare provider, reducing your fees. The amount your family receives depends on your combined household income, with eligible families able to have up to 95% of their fees covered. The subsidy gradually reduces as income increases.
To be eligible for CCS, you must:
- Have a child aged 13 or under not attending secondary school
- Use an approved childcare service
- Be responsible for paying the childcare fees
- Meet Australian residency and immunisation requirements
All SunRise Kids centres are CCS-approved. You can use the Services Australia CCS estimator to get an idea of what your family may be entitled to.
For a full breakdown of how CCS works, you can read our guide here.
Free Kindy (Queensland)
Free Kindy is a Queensland Government program that provides eligible children with 15 hours of funded kindergarten per week, for 40 weeks per year (up to 600 hours). Children turning 4 by 30 June in the year they attend a kindy program are generally eligible.
At SunRise Kids, our kindergarten program is delivered within our long-day care setting. The Free Kindy subsidy is applied to your fees on top of any CCS entitlement, which can significantly reduce what you pay out of pocket.
A few things to be aware of:
- Free Kindy funding can only be claimed at one service. If your child attends multiple centres, you’ll need to nominate where the funding is applied
- Children already enrolled in a government-approved sessional kindergarten are not eligible to also receive Free Kindy at a long day care centre
- Funding ends once your child has reached 40 weeks or 600 hours for that calendar year
If you’re unsure what subsidised care your child is eligible for, get in touch, and we can help walk you through your options.

How do I know which session length is right for my family?
It depends on your work schedule and how many days per week your child attends. Shorter sessions can help spread your CCS hours across more days, reducing your gap fee. Your Centre Director can help you work out the most cost-effective combination for your situation.
What is the gap fee?
The gap fee is the difference between the centre’s daily fee and the amount covered by your Child Care Subsidy. The size of your gap fee depends on your combined family income, the session length booked, and how many days per fortnight your child attends.
How do I apply for the Child Care Subsidy?
CCS is applied for through your MyGov account via Services Australia. Once approved, it is paid directly to your childcare provider and deducted from your fees automatically. You can apply at servicesaustralia.gov.au.
Can I change my child's session length?
Yes. If your family’s circumstances change, we can discuss adjusting your child’s session length, subject to availability. Speak with your Centre Director about the options available.
Do I have to attend the same days every week?
Most families attend on regular booked days each week. If you require flexibility, speak with your Centre Director to discuss what arrangements may be available at your centre.
Do childcare costs vary between age groups and programs?
Yes. Fees may vary depending on your child’s age, the session length selected, and the program they attend. Your Centre Director can provide current pricing and explain any government assistance that may apply to your family.
What happens if my child is absent?
If your child is away due to illness, holidays, or other reasons, your usual fees may still apply to retain their place. In many cases, the Child Care Subsidy can still be claimed for allowable absences. Our team can explain how absence days work and how they may affect your fees.
Can I swap or make up days if my child misses a session?
Additional or make-up days may be available depending on centre capacity. Please speak with your Centre Director to discuss your options.
Can I arrive later or collect my child earlier than my booked session?
Yes. Your session length simply sets the maximum time your child can attend. You’re welcome to drop off later or pick up earlier if needed.
